About Us
Join us in building the future of observability
foam is building a new observability stack that captures, traces, and links everything, purpose-built for AI. We use this foundation to feed complete context into AI to automatically identify and root-cause breakages across entire systems.
- We are testing the limits of AI and hope to unlock a new ceiling. To do that, we're building the stack that lets us push and probe AI's capabilities for accurate root-cause analysis like no other stack can.
- We are building a system that replaces the entire observability and alerting stack as we know it. foam will proactively diagnose production breakages so well that humans forget what it's like to manage production.
- We take our users seriously. No user has ever had to prompt foam and we aim to deliver correct root-cause analysis without any human involvement ever.
We've raised $9.9M in seed funding from Khosla Ventures, Max Levchin, The House Fund, and South Park Commons among other angels. We're SF-based in the office 5 days a week. We are walking distance from the Salesforce Tower.

Role Description:
Build the core intelligence behind our root cause analysis engine and observability stack, tackling work far beyond typical full‑stack or infra.
Some of the things you'll find yourself doing:
- Setting up telemetry pipelines, improving tooling and SDKs, and building systems that reconstruct timelines across logs, traces, and deploys.
- Building automatic instrumentation that tracks code behavior, preserves async context, and improves visibility into backend operations.
- Creating code‑origin mapping that links logs and events back to exact source code.
- Designing secure sandboxes that allow our agents to run checks, inspect systems, and validate ideas safely.
- Building multi‑agent reasoning systems that use real telemetry to produce correct RCAs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- 1+ years of experience using AI to solve complex, unstructured problems (bonus if applied to developer tooling).
- Incredibly strong communication skills, the kind that allow you to translate very complex ideas into simple, clear language for the rest of the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field.
